Hi,
I am Julie Jones and I am an associate professor of multimedia here at the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at University of Oklahoma.
Wow. That is a long sentence. The short version is: I am the instructor for JMC 3003, Multimedia Journalism. You have landed on our class blog. I use this site to share content, articles, videos, and ideas with the class. On our blog roll you can see descriptions and links to the students' blogs. Each student has defined a beat and an audience they intend to serve. Please feel free to visit their blogs and, if you can, take a moment longer to give these students some feedback. It will be your opportunity to interact with a young aspiring journalist.
On the other side of my life, I research social media communities, producer motives, and the intersection of these phenomenon with journalism. You can find my dissertation The Me in Media here. I am particularly interested in YouTube because it is a social platform whose currency is wrapped around video. That attribute of YT appeals to my journalist side. In my previous life, I was a television photojournalist and producer for 20 years at local stations in Phoenix and Albuquerque.
Feel free to email me if you share these interests. In the meantime, though, thanks for dropping by
