Meet the journalists of 3003

Welcome to the class blog for JMC 3003, Gaylord College's Multimedia Journalism course. These student journalists run and maintain their own news blog. Each blog is wrapped around a specific topic and in service of a targeted audience. These are the topics they are tackling this fall.

Health. Megan Gay is going beyond skin deep to find the information women need to know about their beauty products and habits. Megan Lawson is hitting the organic food beat to find the best and brightest eats. Meanwhile, Rachel Santshi will target the campus health scene to bring more localized health news to OU students.

Culture. If the Norman music business intrigues you then Courtney Goforth and Zachary Herring are your journalists. See what they find out about the backside of the music business. Kelley Jones brings you the where and who of fashion in Oklahoma on her Norman Fashionista.
Did you know that OU has a robust culture of filmmaking? Richard Immel will be covering all things cinematic at Film of Norman. Turning away from the lens, Dorion Billups takes the stage - and the backstage - to report on OU's theater culture. Alex Ewald's Check it OUt is for readers who are interested in campus culture. It is a must read for any student wondering "Where did I land?" Meanwhile, Katie Piper is covering the present and future landscape of academia. Ever wonder where higher education is going? Katie will be bringing you the answer.

World news.

Two students are covering international news from an OU perspective.

Lindsey Ruta will provide the foundation for understanding the events you see on the news every day.

Tyler Dunn covers the local side of international happenings on his From International Blah to Need-to-Know News.

Together they will help OU students feel more informed and more connected to the big issues of our day.

Sports. Let's face it - it's fall, it's Oklahoma, it's sports! Chelsey Kraft's Crimson Behind the Scenes will introduce you to those unsung heros and programs that support the OU sports scene.

People. Ever wonder about an eclectic person you have passed by? Ana Lastra has. As she writes on her OK Vox, Ana will be be finding and profiling unique characters for all of us "not daring enough to ask who these eclectic Oklahomans are."
Zachary Hedrick thought there was a need to help the guys on campus understand a very specific group of people - sorority girls. He brings you the news, events, and insights into the social structure of sorority life on his Sororities for Dummies. Erin Wilson is hunting down a different kind of strange for her ParanOUrmal blog. If you have a ghost story to tell - or love to hear them - give Erin a call.
Every Gaylord student will face
the day when they leave Gaylord Hall. Sadie Short can help you get ready for that day. She is tracking down Gaylord grads to find out where -and how - they landed their professional jobs.
